Obverse : Liberty is seated on a rock, her right hand holding a shield (inscribed LIBERTY in raised letters) and her left a pole upon which is a liberty cap. The date 1836 is below. There are no obverse stars. On the rock base, the inscription C. GOBRECHT F. (F being an abbreviation for Fecit = made it) is seen.
Reverse : Eagle in flight, flying upward to the left, surrounded by a galaxy of 26 stars, of which 13 are small and 13 are large. The inscription UNITED STATES OF AMERICA / ONE DOLLAR surrounds. |
